Daffodils and Dark Desires

Here is a little nugget of joy that was my day today.  Beautiful blue sky and amazing, fresh daffodils.  I spent some time at a friend's house today in her studio, making some jewelry.

Here are some pictures of my OrigamiStar! Earrings.

This one is representative of the zodiac sign Leo.  Click here for my Etsy Listing!

Here is Mac, the studio cat.  They really just call her cat... So, I do, too.  She wasn't sure why the screen was closed... However, I KNOW she wanted to look at the little studio birds.  No pics of them, sorry!

Here is another pair of OrigamiStars! Earrings, in Yellow and Green, celebrating spring with the colors of the daffodils!

This pair has large pink iridescent stars, with two pink-and-white stars that have tiny glow-in-the-dark stars on the paper, and then to top it off are some cute and teeny tiny green stars.  So cute!

Here are two pairs peeking out from under the lovely flowers.  :)

And here is my stash of stars!  I have a friend who is ALWAYS making these, so I bought some from her.

That was my day!  Well, I made a couple other things, but they didn't get photographed yet.

What do you think of my little origami stars?

Type Writer Key Ring - Steampunk Ring - Sterling Silver

Here is one of my latest creations!!  This is a vintage typewriter key, from an old typewriter.  This key is at LEAST 30 years old!

I set this key in a bezel, just like you would a stone cabochon, except instead of making sure the bezel goes above the shoulder of the cabochon, or in this case typewriter key, I made it go half-way up.  That is because this key is sloped upward, so it is wider at the bottom than the top.  The ring band is sterling silver, 18 gauge and fits about size 7.75.

Feel free to email me, or convo me in my Etsy shop to request this item and ask about price.  Thanks so much for looking.

New Handmade Ring Display!

First things first:  I must thank my good friend Mary Pat who helped me make this possible!  She pretty much came up with the idea and then we executed it together.  Thanks Mary Pat!  I needed a quick, easy, beautiful and CHEAP alternative to the horrible way my rings were being displayed previously.  I had no idea this project would take such little time.

Here it is!  Total cost to make this was about $18.  I could have saved some money if I had shopped around, but I didn't know the non-JoAnn Fabric store was have a big sale, but oh well!  It probably took about 2-3 hours to do, but we were sort of watching a movie

I used all fabric from the remnants bin at JoAnn Fabrics, then found a sheet of 1 inch high density foam about 30 inches long (or so) by about 10 inches.  This was not enough foam, but I think it was all they had, so I had to run out to get some more today at a different store.

The silky fabric is sort of tan with purple brocade ($4) and the green fabric ($2) is cotton.  I stretched the cotton sort of like you would with canvas for painting.  The frame of this is a cork board, which was only $3.99.  It's 11"x17" and had a "The Board Dudes" logo on it that I wanted to cover.  To put it all together I used a staple gun with 1/4" staples.

Shockingly, no one got hurt during this project and we only messed up once.

If enough people want to know how to make one of these, I can post instructions.  :)  Thanks for looking!
